Description

The fleece is the whole point. Most felted sheep get a smooth coat or a bit of fluff; this one is built from thick handspun yarn laid on in coil after coil, so the whole body reads as ringlets rather than a surface. Run a thumb across it and the curls move.

That is how a longwool actually grows. Breeds like the Lincoln and the Wensleydale carry fleece in long hanging locks instead of the dense crimped mass you see on a hill sheep, and the coiled yarn here does the same job. It is wool pretending to be wool, which is a reasonable thing for a sheep to be made of.

Underneath, the head, legs and ears are needle-felted smooth and firm, with two black eyes and a stitched muzzle that lands somewhere between patient and faintly amused. She stands on her own four legs with no stand or wire.

Plain Fleece is undressed, cream from nose to tail. Scarf & Blossom wears a soft green scarf knotted at the nape with a bow, a dusty rose bloom tucked in at the chest and a lavender one at the shoulder, with a pink daisy pinned above one ear.

Made from New Zealand wool.

Product Care

Pure New Zealand pasture wool naturally repels dust and light spills thanks to its dense, organic fiber structure.

Day-to-dayLift dust out of the fleece with a cool hairdryer on its lowest setting rather than brushing, which flattens the curls.

Spot cleaningDab with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap, then blot dry.

ReshapingTease the curls apart with your fingers if they compress in storage. Lift her by the body rather than the legs or ears.

NeverMachine wash or soak. The coiled fleece will mat and lose its ringlets.
