Description

A deep raspberry tote, wet-felted as one seamless piece.

The colour is heathered rather than flat: lighter and deeper reds carded together before any felting, so the variation lives inside the fibre. Up close, pale strands run through the crimson. At arm's length it reads as a single red with depth in it.

The body flares from a squared base and holds that shape on its own. There is no lining, no interfacing and no frame inside it — the structure is the density of the felt. Both rolled handles are felted in as part of the body rather than stitched on, and sit long enough to go over a shoulder.

A small felted ball on a loop closes the top corner. That is the only fastening and the only hardware on the bag.

Made from New Zealand wool.

Materials
  • New Zealand wool, wet-felted into one seamless vessel.
  • Heathered colour, carded before felting rather than dyed flat.
  • Felted ball toggle and loop closure.
  • No lining, no interfacing, no frame, no metal hardware.
Dimensions
Craft
  1. Wet-felted as a single seamless vessel. Wool is laid up and worked with water and friction until the fibres lock into one continuous sheet — no side seams, no base seam, nothing stitched together. The handles are rolled from the same fleece and felted in as part of the body rather than attached afterwards, so there is no join to fail under a loaded bag.
  2. The colour is heathered rather than flat. Lighter and deeper reds are carded together before any felting begins, so the variation lives inside the fibre instead of sitting on it. Up close, pale strands run through the crimson; at arm's length it reads as a single red with depth a flat dye lot does not have.
  3. The base is squared with a gusset so the bag stands rather than slumps, and the structure comes from the density of the felt itself — there is nothing stiffening it from inside.
  4. The closure is a felted ball on a loop at the top corner, the only fastening on the piece.
Product Care

Pure New Zealand pasture wool naturally repels dust and light spills thanks to its dense, organic fiber structure.

Day-to-daya soft brush lifts dust and keeps the surface even. With no motif to distract the eye, the felt reads as a single field, so brushing in one direction rather than in patches keeps it looking right.

Pillinga carried bag will fuzz where it rubs at the hip. Pick the pills off by hand rather than shaving them — a razor takes the surface with them, and on a plain bag that bald patch has nowhere to hide.

Spot cleaningblot with a barely damp cloth and dry standing upright, stuffed lightly with paper to hold the square base. Never soak and never machine wash — wet felt reshapes itself as it dries.

Keeping its shapethere is no frame inside, so the structure is the felt. Store it standing with a little stuffing rather than flat under other bags.
